Redspot is the only Australian-owned independent car rental company at all the nation’s major airports and pitches itself as a no-frills, low-cost alternative to the big boys, particularly Avis and Hertz. It has a national fleet of about 1800 cars and offers customers an all-in-one price that includes no-excess insurance.

Merry Christmas From Redspot!

Another year has passed and its almost Christmas again. Tis the season to be merry and as 2009 comes to an end theres lots happening at the Redspot family. Redspot has taken two major on-airport locations in Melbourne and Hobart and established a depot in Brooklyn Park to service Adelaide Airport.

I'd like to personally thank you for your commitment and support in 2009 which have taken Redspot to much higher levels. 2009 was a year of unprecedented demand for Business Club and Club Red membership and I'm sure 2010 will be an even bigger year for Redspot and its valued Club members.

Redspot’s all grown up but still so cute.

Redspot was born in 1989 when Dan Mekler (Founder) started renting a Ute and a rusty old corolla from his service station in Waterloo. Redspot, being very young, was still smart enough to realise there was an untapped market to explore. As Redspot grew older and needed bigger shoes, it opened its first solo rental car operation in Surry Hills Sydney with a few more than just 2 cars to play with.
During its adventurous teenage years, it took up the challenge of taking on the Big 5, opening up counters at major airports around Australia and becoming the first Australian owned and operated car rental company on Airport.

Today, Redspot celebrates its 20 year birthday at a function in Hobart city. Its friends and work mates from around Australia came to wish Redspot a happy birthday, and to congratulate Dan Mekler on his achievements and success.

Hobart Airport, Another Redspot

Redspot is proud to announce it has landed in Hobart Airport and opened its 9th on-airport operation. The operation kicked off on the 10th of August 2009, offering our services to tourists and the corporate market.

Redspot is proud to announce its has opened up operations in Melbourne Airport allowing it to better service its current and new clients with a counter in the terminal and its cars parked close by. The granted on-airport licence in Melbourne Airport is the 8th on airport License Redspot has won in the last 5 years.

The growth of the low cost airlines has been a boon to Redspot; their customers see it as the car rental equivalent of the low cost airlines and the champion of the Aussie battler. Redspot is the only Australian owned on-airport car rental company. It is totally independent and the underdog of the on-airport competitors which are multinational franchises.
